Highlights from the O’Cannabiz Conference
Between Thursday, April 25 and Saturday, April 27, the International Centre opened its doors to over 7,000 attendees at the O’Cannabiz Conference and Expo.
CannTx owned the largest booth at the show - a beautiful 20 ft x 40 ft booth created by Skyline BC and designed by KW Creative. In addition, CannTx branding was present throughout the show floor.
On day one of the conference, CannTx Executive Director and Co-Founder Buck Young introduced a speaking segment by Carman Allison (VP of Consumer Insights, Nielsen) and Cy Scott (Co-founder and CEO of Headset) regarding post-legalization data on the categories and formats that are winning with consumers in the legal recreational cannabis market.
Later in the day, CannTx President Mike Abbott introduced an information segment hosted by Dr. Sarah Wilner of Wilfred Laurier University, on marketing in a regulated environment, with an examination of the ways in which cannabis product design – including packaging, delivery format and branding - can transmit a producers’ intentions, confirm its legitimacy and safety, and signal relevance to specific consumer segments.
Day one closed out with the First Annual O'Cannabiz Industry Awards Gala at Casa Loma, in which CannTx was nominated as runner-up in the Licensed Producer of the Year category.
The O'Cannabiz Expo Hall opened to industry Friday, with hundreds of exhibitors presenting their products and services. The CannTx booth was busy with visitors all day long, with CannTx staff and Executive Team meeting, greeting and answering questions.
One of the highlights of the Expo was Buck Young’s presentation on Friday afternoon, entitled Quality Cannabis and the Untapped Market Segment. His presentation outlined the ways in which CannTx, through its business-to-business brand, Steadystem Solutions, is set to be a game changer.
Saturday was the final day of the show, which was open to general public and consumers. Mike Abbott, CannTx President, introduced Montel Williams for his keynote address. Mr. Williams is one of the highest-profile advocates for cannabis reform in the United States. He shared his journey of being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 1999, and becoming a cannabis activist after discovering medical cannabis products could help effectively manage his symptoms.
Later in the day, CannTx VP Marketing Tricia Ryan introduced a segment on mastering the art of cooking with cannabis with Chef Mike Morgan (The Green Chef Canada) and Tamara Lilien (CannaLily Consulting) on Saturday.
CannTx’s debut was extremely well received by both industry and consumers. The CannTx booth had exposure to over 7,000 delegates at the show, which resulted in a number of new contacts and potential business opportunities.
The Company has now set its sights on the upcoming Lift&Co Conference (June 6-9, 2019), where an expected 22,000 consumers will be introduced to our Solidus and Bower brands.
